PK Grills PKO-SCAX-X Original PK Grill & Smoker
This grill and smoker combination from PK Grills is unique yet stylish and has an impressive 10-year warranty.
Review
What’s cool about the PK Grills PKO-SCAX-X Original PK Grill & Smoker is that it is highly portable. It has a full-size stand for stationary backyard grilling, but you can remove the main component from the stand, so you can pop the grill in your car and take it tailgating, to the beach, or wherever else. The grill is very easy to remove and to reattach to the stand.
The PK Grills PKO-SCAX-X Original PK Grill & Smoker is durable as it has a cast aluminum construction, which is very resistant to scratching and denting. Although it is lightweight and durable, it also manages to conduct and retain heat up to 4 times better than steel grills.
Moreover, this grill and smoker combo features 300 square inches of total cooking area, which should be enough to cook a meal for 3 to 4 people without an issue.
The unique capsule shape of the PK Grills PKO-SCAX-X Original PK Grill & Smoker, with four vents, allows for precise temperature and/or smoke control. You can grill high and fast or low and slow; it can handle them both.
Pros
- Lightweight
- Portable
- Durable
- Rust resistant
- Great warranty
- Conducts heat well
- Good airflow and temperature management
Cons
- Not ideal for large gatherings
- Vents can loosen up over time
Oklahoma Joe’s Highland Reverse Flow Smoker
If you are looking for a large grill and smoker combo with plenty of space for cooking, as well as a long-lasting unit that looks cool, the Oklahoma Joe’s Highland Reverse Flow Smoker is a cool option.
Review
The main description of this model is a smoker. To smoke all sorts of meat, it features a reverse flow design with baffles that help guide both smoke and heat through the chamber.
It also comes with several vents and chimneys, which allow for optimal smoke and temperature control. It also has a temperature gauge so you can keep track of smoking and grilling conditions at all times. On a side note, the smokestack is removable for a highly customizable setup.
We like the Oklahoma Joe’s Highland Reverse Flow Smoker because it features a 281 square inch firebox chamber, which is where you would make a small fire, insert the water, and woodchips for smoking. An area of 281 square inches is quite a bit and should give you room to fill it up with enough pellets to last for a good few hours at a time.
The main chamber is well over 600 square inches in size, which is more than enough space to smoke multiple racks of ribs, dozens of sausages, and more. Of course, in the main chamber, you can also put charcoal directly in the bottom, which allows this unit to double as a charcoal grill, one with an all-steel construction.
Pros
- Superior durability
- Large firebox chamber
- Plenty of cooking space
- Removable baffles and smokestack
- Easy and accurate smoke and temperature control
- Features a set of rolling wheels
Cons
- Quite heavy
- Not portable
Char-Griller E1224 Smokin Pro 830 Square Inch Charcoal Grill
If you are looking for a mid-range grill and smoker combo, something durable and relatively spacious, yet not overly expensive, the Char-Griller E1224 is a great product to consider.
Review
What is nice about the Char-Griller E1224 is that it comes in 2 different sizes. We will review the larger, which has dimensions of 49 x 50 x 29 inches (the smaller one comes 35 x 50 x 29). We prefer the larger one, as it features a total cooking surface of more than 1,000 square inches. That is a lot of space and more than enough to grill or smoke virtually anything.
The Char-Griller E1224 has double layers of heavy-duty steel, which makes this grill extremely durable. It can easily resist very high heat, rusting, denting, scratching, and more. Now, this unit may not be portable per se, as it is quite large and weighs well over 100 lbs., but it comes with rolling casters for a bit of portability around the yard.
You can adjust the grates to 3 different heights from the coals to allow for good temperature control. The well-placed vents and smokestacks help in temperature regulation. Something else you may appreciate is the easy-dump ash pan; you don’t have to remove all of the grates to remove old ashes, or to add new charcoal, for that matter.
Pros
- Very durable
- Tons of cooking space
- Grill + smoker combo
- Wheels for added portability
- Good shelves for storage
- Great temperature control features
Cons
- Not very portable
- Grates may rust with prolonged use
Cuisinart CPG-4000 Wood BBQ Grill & Smoker
If you like cool-looking gadgets and gizmos, you might be drawn to this Cuisinart CPG-4000 Wood BBQ Grill & Smoker, as it features a golden finish and a design that resembles something out of a steampunk movie.
Review
The Cuisinart CPG-4000 Wood BBQ Grill & Smoker features a huge hopper that can hold up to 15 pounds of pellets. The design of the hopper allows for really constant, even, and thick smoke. It comes with an electric starter and an easy-to-use control dial for the hopper, making startup easier.
The Cuisinart CPG-4000 Wood BBQ Grill & Smoker has a smokestack and several vents for better temperature and smoke control. This unit can double as a standard charcoal grill, and it allows you to put charcoal in the bottom of the main grilling chamber, although that said, its capacity for charcoal in the main chamber is a bit limited.
The Cuisinart CPG-4000 Wood BBQ Grill & Smoker features 450 square inches of cooking capacity, more than enough to cook for 5 or 6 people at once, maybe more. The unit itself is not too large or heavy, and it comes with wheels so you can easily roll it around the property.
Pros
- Easy to use
- Large hopper
- Hopper allows for easy smoke control
- Grill, braise, roast, smoke, and more
- Large cooking area
- Easy to control the temperature
- Cool look
Cons
Limited durability

Review
This model features a 440-square-inch cooking chamber, more than enough to cook for 4 or 5 people with ease. Moreover, the offset smoker features nearly 200 square inches of space, which should be enough to get a few hours of smoke.
What is nice about the Royal Gourmet CC1830F Charcoal Grill with Offset Smoker is that it features a separate door for adding charcoal into the main chamber without removing the grates.
This smoker and grill combo also have a smokestack and several vents for optimal airflow, smoking, and temperature control, and it also comes with a temperature gauge.
